You don't ever own your social media followers, but you do as you have their direct contact information with email. Why is it important?
What would you do if social media shut down again like it did in October 2021? How would you reach your customers? You always need other avenues to market to your audience, so email is a great addition. You can hit your consumers directly to their inboxes at the right time with the right message.
Email marketing helps you stay top of mind with your clients, so when it’s time to buy or sell, they think of you! We all know the dreaded line “I didn’t know you were a REALTOR®” as your friends choose to work with someone else, so make sure that doesn’t happen! Remind your database that you are knowledgeable, experienced, and can help them.
How often should you email your database?
Sending too many emails is a big no-no as your clients will unsubscribe or mark it as spam. Make sure you’re hitting them with meaningful, timely information and not over-sending them every new listing that you have. A good idea is to produce a monthly newsletter! This way, you are not bombarding their inbox but also giving them valuable information to read and digest.
If you want a little more, hit them twice a month! We love a lifestyle newsletter that focuses on what is happening around your city and another real estate newsletter with listings, market stats, and testimonials.
What platform should I use?
It depends! Don’t you love that answer? But honestly, there are so many email marketing platforms out there to choose from, but we are going to break down a few we love!
MailerLite is a great place to start as they have a free option for up to 1,000 subscribers. This way, you can get your feet wet with email marketing and not have to worry about paying for a platform just yet. However, you can’t remove the MailerLite branding at the bottom of your email campaigns with your free plan.
Mailchimp is a small business favorite with over 11 million users. It’s an easy drag and drop editor and has automation to help you welcome new subscribers, nurture leads, and close more deals. They also have a free plan, but you would want to upgrade to a standard plan at some point!
Flodesk is a newer email marketing platform, and it’s more for the modern REALTOR® as it has more template options. I love their upfront pricing that isn’t determined by how big your contact list is. Flodesk is $38/month flat rate, while most email marketing platforms will charge as you add more subscribers.
